Happy 1/2 Birthday!

How is it already your half birthday?!  These last six months have just flown by, and yet, it seems as though you have always been a part of our family.  It's hard, sometimes, to remember our lives without you!

Here's what you have been up to lately:

-You have mastered sitting alone.  You are so proud of yourself!  You have also learned that it doesn't hurt to fall from a sitting position, so when you get tired you simply fall!  It's pretty funny.

-Now that you are sitting alone, bath time has gotten interesting.  You sit in the tub and splash like crazy!  You also fall over into the water and thrash around like a little fish.  It is very entertaining, and I almost need a bathing suit to bathe you!

-You are so incredibly mobile!  You can't crawl yet, but you are scooting and rolling like crazy.  It is really funny to watch you try to get up on all fours.  You can get your knees underneath you, actually, you can even get your feet underneath you.  Your problem is your hands...you have no idea what to do with them, so you don't do anything.  You use your knees/feet and your face to thrust yourself forward.

Here, I laid you on your mat and went to the bathroom with Austyn. I came back to this only two or three minutes later!

-Your sleep is getting back to normal.  You are falling asleep between 8 and 9, waking to nurse around 2 or 3, and sleeping until we have to bring Gannon-Banannon to school.

-You cut your first tooth!  Finally!  Now, only nineteen more to go, ha!  I officially swear by your amber!  A while back, I thought I had lost your anklet (you can read about that here).  After we lost it, we had to give you Tylenol and teething tablets around the clock.  It helped a little bit with your pain, but I hate to just pump you full of Tylenol all the time!  Turns out, your anklet was in the van the whole time!  Since I have put it back on you (September 7) I have only had to give you Tylenol two or three times!  Yay!

To help with your teething (and to give you something to do while we are all at the table together), I made you these little pops.  I just froze some breastmilk for you and let you chew on it.  You LOVE it!

-You have decided that bottles are not entirely evil. I had to leave you with Daddy a couple of times last week for a few hours each time. You took your bottles like a big girl :)

-You are getting so much better about letting people other than Mommy hold you. Nanny Shawn got married a couple of weeks ago, and I just cannot believe how well you did!! Especially after our last visit to Lake Charles, which was completely traumatizing for you. You let everyone have their turn holding you, and you did it with a smile. You even let me out of your sight several times! Go, Mia!

Here's you and Nanny dancing the night away at her wedding!

..and one of you, Nanny, and Parrain:

Although you are still only nursing, you have had little "licks" of a couple of fruits.  Here you are tasting a plum.

You made awful faces, but you kept opening your mouth and shouting for more!

This morning, I let you have a taste of honeydew melon, and you about sucked it right out of my hand!  You loved it!

Sweet girl, you just jumped yourself right to sleep!

You are just the sweetest little thing, and we are all crazy over you!  You and Austyn are already becoming friends, and it just melts my heart.  I am so excited to see your relationship develop over the next few years!

You know me...I have to make some comparisons!

You and Austyn are looking more and more alike every day.  Of course, you are a bit squishier!  :)

Splish-Splash to Dream Land

Just thought I'd share a couple of videos of Mia-Bug.

This one was last week in the tub.  Like always, she loves the bath!  She is finally realizing how much she can do and how fun it is to splash!

Here she is sleeping.  I know what you're thinking... Really?  Why video a sleeping baby??

Well, I heard her making noises, so I went to pick her up, but this is what I found.

My sweet girl was dreaming :)

Little Classroom

Austyn has been feeling a little left out since Gannon started school.  She is a big girl, too, and she just doesn't understand why she doesn't get to go to school.

We are doing our own "school" at home.  We haven't done much, yet, but we'll get there.

Right now, we are working on numbers and counting.  For some reason, when Austyn learned to count to twenty, sixteen was not on her map.  She skips it every. single. time!  That has been our focus.

Bryan made her a number chart on her chalkboard, and we have been practicing.  After lunch I was cleaning the kitchen, and I could hear Austyn talking to Mia.  I walked into the living room to find this:

Austyn was teaching Mia how to count!  It was just the sweetest thing :)

First, by pointing to the chart...

...then, by counting on her fingers.

..and now she takes a bow, haha!

Mia was excited to learn from her new teacher!

Homework, Already?

We went to Gannon's school for Meet 'n Greet last week.  We were able to meet his teacher, see his classroom, drop off his supplies, etc, etc...Oh, and fill out TONS of paperwork!

In the folder that was sent home with him was his first homework assignment.  His school mascot is a Bobcat, and their colors are (are you ready for this??) PURPLE and GOLD!!

His assignment was to decorate a bobcat paw and send it back to school.  For some reason, he was given two paws, so Austyn was able to join in on the fun!

You know we couldn't leave out the baby girl!

GEAUX Bobcats!!

Let's just hope he continues to be excited about homework! :)

One Down, Thirty-Five to Go!

I knew this day was coming.  I knew it.  I told myself I was ready.  I thought I was.  I really did.  Who was I kidding?

Who knows what I am talking about?

Yep!

Gannon started Kindergarten!!

How are we here already?  Isn't he just a baby??

Does this make anyone else tear up?  No?  Just me?  Okay.  Off to Kindergarten we go!

I have to say, I did really well the first two days. Bryan and I walked him in the first day. We got to see his classroom and all his little friends. We were able to help him put his lunch away and put his backpack in his locker. We were able to do it all together.

The second day, I walked him in again. I wanted to be sure one last time that he knew how to get to his classroom. Okay, let's be real...I didn't want to let go!

The third day, I asked him if he was ready to walk to class by himself.  He excitedly replied, "Yes!  You just walk me to the door, and I can get to my classroom all by myself!"  Then I explained that I would just drive through the drop-off line and he would get out all by himself and go to class.

"Yes, Mama, yes!!"

He had a great first day!  And first week!!  He has made a few new friends, and even recognized an old friend from his day care!  He loves Art, Music, and P.E.

Every day when I pick him up, I ask about his day.  Friday, his response was, "Aw, MAMA!!!  It's the same thing every. single. DAY!!!"

He is growing up so fast!!  And he is so independent! I mean really...he may as well move out because he doesn't need me for much anymore ;)

One week down, thirty-five to go!  I think this is going to be a great year!!

Bloopers!

As you all know, or should know, college football kicked off last night.  GEAUX TIGERS!!

This is Mia's first football season!  Gannon and Austyn were so excited, really! They were!  They even told Mia stories about the Tigers and how great they are.  They sang the Fight Song for her, and taught her how to cheer, L-S-U!!

Of course, the night wouldn't be complete without a photo of my lil Tigers!

Have you ever wondered how I seem to have my kids all smiling, or at least looking, at the camera at the same time?

I'll tell you...Persistence. Lots and lots of persistence!
Blooper Reel: GEAUX!

Funny story, when the bigs' eyes were off, they were watching the game!

This one would have been my favorite had Austyn been looking!

She was just a tad too heavy for Austyn!

Annnnndd....there she goes!

"Mommy!  I can't pick her up!!"

Mia's poor face is begging to be saved ;)

This one should have been great.  Dang arm, haha!

Well, friends, there you have it!  A Manuel Munchkin photo shoot!

Happy Football, yall!
