Happy Halloween 2012!

HAPPY
HALLOWEEN!!
 Love, The Manuel Monsters :)

Introducing...

The very brave, OPTIMUS PRIME!

The very scary, WICKED WITCH!

And, finally, OOOOOOOOOO....Mia the GHOST!

I am so proud of myself for making Mia's costume, with a little help from Pinterest, of course!  I found this super easy tutorial for making a dress from an old tee here, and then I just cut out a ghost face and ironed it right on!

Now, on to the Halloween festivities!

How did you spend your Halloween evening?  We went Trick-or-Treating, of course!  But first, we had a surprise for our munchkins.  They had some very special friends join them for the festivities!

First, they ate supper, read Halloween stories, and played with super-scary bats, skeletons, and spiders.

While my little Transformer was entirely too busy doing whatever it is that Transformers do, my little witch was completely smitten with our Halloween decorations and only wanted to help.

This next photo is not for the faint of heart...Look at your own risk ;)

How scary is she?!  She is sure to scare away all the evil spirits :)

Then, our special guests arrived!  They were beyond excited that their friends came to Trick-or-Treat  with them!  They had a blast at the kiids table eating, listening to Halloween stories, and playing with the little critters!  I am so sad I didn't get any photos of them in action, but it got a little crazy ;)

Austyn, Chloe, Ramsey, Brantley, Gannon, and Mia, Halloween 2012!

And here's the gang after a successful night of Trick-or-Treating!

Happy Halloween 2012!

Trick-or-Treat 2011

This is our first Halloween in our new house.  We just missed it last year (we moved in November 19).  We had heard that our neighborhood really gets in to Halloween for all the kids.  We even heard that other neighborhoods come here to celebrate.  As Halloween approached, our anticipation grew.  Almost every house out out great decorations, and we just knew the hype had to be true.  On Halloween, the decorations grew... Some people were bringing out haunted house decorations for their driveways and garages, while others were bringing out barbecue pits and tables to celebrate.  I am not sure who was more excited: the kids, or me!!

When I picked the kids up from school, they were begging for some of the candy we bought for the trick-or-treaters.  I told them they could each have one piece when we got home.  They were so excited!

She said, "Mommy!  This was my favorite candy when I was a little girl!"
Turkey :)

Cheeseball!

After we painted our pumpkins, Gannon wanted to put them on the front porch.  Immediately.  He didn't understand, or didn't care, that they were wet and we could not move them, yet.  Here is his face when he got home from school and realized that I had moved them to the porch for him.

I tried to get some pictures of them actually trick-or treating, but they were too fast, and it was just too dark.  So these indoor shots of my little super heroes will have to suffice.

INTRODUCING:

The wonderful, the magnificent, the brave, and the super cute:

Super-Austyn and Super-Gannon!!!

"Super-Girl, to the rescue!!"
We heard this chant all. night. long!  And it never got old!

And here is Gannon "getting told".  I don't remember exactly what was said, but this face sure does tell you what Miss Austyn thought about it!

Here are the only outdoor shots I got.  The next-door-neighbors had this cute little set-up in their driveway, and Gannon ran over there before I even got the stroller out of the garage, ha!

And here, Super-Girl is off to rescue Mrs. Cynthia and "Mr. Jimmy-Jim", as she calls him, ha!

I know, I know...Terrible.  That's why I put the camera away.

I excitedly told Bryan that Mrs. Cynthia bought the kids Nightmare on Elm St for Halloween.

His response:  "Um, don't you think that is a tad inappropriate?!"

I told him no.  I mean isn't it clay-mation, or cartoon-ish, or something like that??

Again, his response:  "Um, no.  It's Freddy Krueger!"

Me:  Ooops.  Well, then I got the title wrong.

She bought them Nightmare Before Christmas.  :)

Okay, so maybe that's not hilarious, but we sure got a good laugh!

After a long night of Trick-or-Treating, we arrived back home to show off our loot.  And boy, did we have some!!

Then, we got into our jammies and handed out candy to the kids who were still out Trick-or-Treating.  I think they had almost as much fun handing out the candy as they did knocking on doors for it!

My silly skeletons!

Happy Halloween from our family to yours!  We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Pumpkin Painting

We are gearing up for Halloween here at the Manuel house by painting our pumpkins!  This is a tradition we started when Gannon was two, and we have all come to love it.  Hopefully, in a few years, we will graduate to pumpkin carving, but for now, this is perfect for us.  Here are some snapshots of our tradition:

Daddy and his babies
How did I get so lucky??  Look at them!  I love them "bigger than Jupiter", as my Gannon would say.

My babies and me.  We had so much fun!

Stay tuned for Trick-or-Treaters!!

Kid Kountry Halloween Party

The kids and I had a great time at their school Halloween party.  They set up games for the kids to walk through and earn candy.  Here is Austyn's class getting their instructions.

My little princess and me at her party :)

She was very timid when it was her turn, but she did a great job!  Here she is participating in some of the games.
Please excuse the crummy photography.  The lighting was terrible, and I just wasn't on my game.

Candy Walk!

And, oh, my G-Man...So shy!  He immediately hid when he saw me.  The games were actually geared more toward the younger ones, and he almost seemed  embarrassed to play a couple of them...Until he realized he was winning candy!

My lil "punkin-head"

After the party, Bryan and I took them to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and to play.  I learned something great-- After the kids eat their lunch, they can bring the toy from their kid's meal back to the counter and trade it for an ice cream cone!  No more junkie toys!
I wish other fast food places did that as well!

Pumpkin Painting and Cupcake Decorating

I know, I know...This post is incredibly late!  But hey, better late than never, right?

For Halloween, we decided to let the kids paint their pumpkins before we carved them.  This way they could safely personalize their pumpkins on their own.  Boy, did they have a blast!

After their clothes were nice and stained up, we moved the party inside for a cupcake party.

Ooops!  This is what happens when the  cap comes off the sprinkles!

I think our party was a success!

Stay tuned for Christmas crafts!
