Fusion Dance Academy Recital 2013: It's All Fun and Games

Today, Austyn performed in her second dance recital with Fusion Dance Academy.  She had a blast, and she did really well!  She is taking a ballet/tap combo class, so she was able to dance on the stage twice.

Her tap routine was first on the bill.  The theme of the recital was "It's All Fun and Games" so each number was named after a game of some sort.  They wore red costumes, and danced to "Rockin' Robin."  What better name than Angry Birds for their first number?!

*She is the one on the far left, looking the other way ;)*

She is the second from the right.

And here's another:

Their ballet routine was done to "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and featured giant flowers.  The title of this routine was He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not.  Austyn did so much better this year in both routines!  She really enjoyed herself this year :)  Not that she didn't last year, but last year she was the girl who just smiled and waved at the audience, ha!

I snapped this photo of her after dress rehearsal the day before.  She was so excited to have found a flower to match her costume!

What a difference a year makes!

Gannon is a very typical six-year-old boy.  And with that comes six-year-old-boy jokes and pranks.  He has discovered bunny ears, and he gives them in every photo!  Silly boy :)

Austyn was so excited that her big friend, Chloe, came to see her recital!  Chloe is an excellent dancer, and Austyn felt very proud to have her in the audience.  We get to go see Chloe dance in her recital very soon!

The grands :)

I am so proud of my little ballerina, and I can't wait for many, many more dance recitals!

Tiny Dancer

Ball-change, cha cha cha!
Arabesque!
Plie'!

You guessed it! Last night was Austyn's very first ballet recital! She had the time of her life! I never realized how hard it would be to prepare a three-year-old for a recital! Make-up, hair, etc...Not easy to do on a tiny little person! Here is what we got. I think she is the prettiest ballerina princess ever, but I may be just a little partial ;)

Austyn even had a special visitor come to surprise her all the way from Bossier City!

Here is the proud big brother waiting patiently for the show to begin:

After Austyn was dressed and ready, he told her, "You look really nice. Actually, you are pretty much gorgeous!" He can be so sweet!!

Here is a shot of the two of them before she went back stage:

There was no flash photography allowed at the recital, so these photos are pretty, um, interesting. Just pretend they are clear...You get the idea!

She wasn't the best little tapper, she mainly just stood there and smiled. Oh, and waved to us, a lot!

She did much better with her ballet routine. She there was hardly a time when all the girls were together, but that is the best part of the little ones' routine!

This one really makes me laugh...

My sweet little princess, I couldn't be any more proud!
She even got flowers, which totally made her night. She thought she was something else!

First recital was a success! Congratulations, my Tiny Dancer!

.....I guess Mia was a little jealous that she didn't get to dance ;)

Twirling and Tapping All Over the Floor!

As you know, last week Austyn attended a gymnastics class.  Although she had fun, I didn't feel it was the place for us.  Gymnastics in itself wasn't the problem, I just didn't care for the class we found.

As much as it pains Bryan, I was able to find a ballet studio still accepting students!
Austyn is so excited, and so am I.  Bryan really isn't at all, but it is only because he doesn't want to sit through a ballet recital ;)

Last night, we were able to "audition" at her new studio.  It is a one-hour class, and it is a tap/ballet combination.  Moms aren't allowed to go back and watch, so I didn't actually see how she did (nor was I able to take pictures), but the teacher said she did fantastic.  We plan to enroll her in January.

Like I said, I couldn't go back with her to get pictures, but here are a few that I snapped before we left the house.

After class, she couldn't stop running and twirling and giggling.  She had an absolute blast.  When I asked her what she learned, she just said, "I twirled around and around and around and I fell!  And I tap, tap, tapped all over the floor!!"

I can't wait to see my little ballerina princess on stage :)
