7 Months and New Milestones

Sweet girl, you are seven months old!  You are busy and loving and curious and smart, and I just adore you!

Here's what you have been up to this month:

10/17- You learned how to sit yourself up!  Once you figured it out, you practiced all day!

You are very, very close to crawling!  You have the army crawl down, and you are fast!  Now, you are practicing getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth.

You also like to get on your hands and feet and "walk."  You don't go anywhere, but it's really cute!

Then, you take a break to watch the Golden Girls!

Although you are still only nursing (every 2-3 hours) for nutrition, you have started sampling (mostly sucking on) table foods.  You love most of the flavors, but the solid texture completely weirds you out.

Some things you have tried: plums, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, potato salad, gumbo, egg yolks (boiled), avocado, and broccoli.

You are starting to really notice when people around you are eating, and you open your mouth with them and pretend to chew.  I guess you are about ready for food yourself!

You may be noticing something different about these photos.  If you are guessing earrings, you are correct!  Nanny and I took you to get your ears pierced when we were in Lake Charles last weekend (10/20).  You were so brave.

Here you are before they do their magic.  I was so sad and so nervous, I couldn't watch.  Nanny was taking your picture.

Of course you cried, but hardly at all.  They said you were the best baby they had ever done!  And they pierce lots and lots of little ears!  They could believe how little you cried.

This is why I couldn't look.

I just scooped you up as fast as I could and nursed you.  You calmed down immediately.  You nursed for a couple of minutes and then you were smiling again!

Ta-daa!

Look at that pretty girl :)

10/19- At Mimi's house, you got up on all fours and actually crawled two "steps" then fell and army crawled.

You have done this a few more times, but never anymore than two "steps," then you return to the army crawl.  I expect you to be crawling in full force in a couple of weeks.

You have two teeth now!  And I am happy to say, you aren't biting me anymore!  Thank you, by the way! :)

Bath time is still your favorite!  Anytime you stay home with Daddy, I remind him to just put you in the tub if you get fussy.  It's an instant "happy pill."

Just look at that sweet face, would you?!  You tickle Daddy to his core. He can't look at you without smiling. You are his little sunshine :)

Your tongue is pretty famous.  You are always sticking it out at everyone!

Let's travel back in time....

I have a feeling you will be in kindergarten before I know it!!  I wish I could slow time just a little!  :)

Those Munchkins

Our munchkins have some pretty big things going on in their lives!  Up first, is Gannon.  Some of you may have already heard about his exciting day at school yesterday, but for those of you who haven't, here's the scoop.

When I picked him up after school, he had this really cool necklace around his neck.

Can you see it??  If not, it's a plastic tooth.  Can you imagine why he is wearing a tooth necklace??

Yep!  He lost his first tooth!!

He was so excited to wake up to find that the tooth fairy had paid him a little visit :)

Austyn can read!!  Well, not really, but she IS getting better!  She is learning how to put letter sounds together to form words!  She is very, very proud that she can "read" this ABC book.

In other news, the bigs really have to learn the importance of picking up after themselves!  They are about to find out why!!

^This little girl is mobile!!  Go, Mia-Bug :)

And here are a few more, just because they're cute :)

Love to everyone!!

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

How is it already your half birthday?!  These last six months have just flown by, and yet, it seems as though you have always been a part of our family.  It's hard, sometimes, to remember our lives without you!

Here's what you have been up to lately:

-You have mastered sitting alone.  You are so proud of yourself!  You have also learned that it doesn't hurt to fall from a sitting position, so when you get tired you simply fall!  It's pretty funny.

-Now that you are sitting alone, bath time has gotten interesting.  You sit in the tub and splash like crazy!  You also fall over into the water and thrash around like a little fish.  It is very entertaining, and I almost need a bathing suit to bathe you!

-You are so incredibly mobile!  You can't crawl yet, but you are scooting and rolling like crazy.  It is really funny to watch you try to get up on all fours.  You can get your knees underneath you, actually, you can even get your feet underneath you.  Your problem is your hands...you have no idea what to do with them, so you don't do anything.  You use your knees/feet and your face to thrust yourself forward.

Here, I laid you on your mat and went to the bathroom with Austyn. I came back to this only two or three minutes later!

-Your sleep is getting back to normal.  You are falling asleep between 8 and 9, waking to nurse around 2 or 3, and sleeping until we have to bring Gannon-Banannon to school.

-You cut your first tooth!  Finally!  Now, only nineteen more to go, ha!  I officially swear by your amber!  A while back, I thought I had lost your anklet (you can read about that here).  After we lost it, we had to give you Tylenol and teething tablets around the clock.  It helped a little bit with your pain, but I hate to just pump you full of Tylenol all the time!  Turns out, your anklet was in the van the whole time!  Since I have put it back on you (September 7) I have only had to give you Tylenol two or three times!  Yay!

To help with your teething (and to give you something to do while we are all at the table together), I made you these little pops.  I just froze some breastmilk for you and let you chew on it.  You LOVE it!

-You have decided that bottles are not entirely evil. I had to leave you with Daddy a couple of times last week for a few hours each time. You took your bottles like a big girl :)

-You are getting so much better about letting people other than Mommy hold you. Nanny Shawn got married a couple of weeks ago, and I just cannot believe how well you did!! Especially after our last visit to Lake Charles, which was completely traumatizing for you. You let everyone have their turn holding you, and you did it with a smile. You even let me out of your sight several times! Go, Mia!

Here's you and Nanny dancing the night away at her wedding!

..and one of you, Nanny, and Parrain:

Although you are still only nursing, you have had little "licks" of a couple of fruits.  Here you are tasting a plum.

You made awful faces, but you kept opening your mouth and shouting for more!

This morning, I let you have a taste of honeydew melon, and you about sucked it right out of my hand!  You loved it!

Sweet girl, you just jumped yourself right to sleep!

You are just the sweetest little thing, and we are all crazy over you!  You and Austyn are already becoming friends, and it just melts my heart.  I am so excited to see your relationship develop over the next few years!

You know me...I have to make some comparisons!

You and Austyn are looking more and more alike every day.  Of course, you are a bit squishier!  :)

Splish-Splash to Dream Land

Just thought I'd share a couple of videos of Mia-Bug.

This one was last week in the tub.  Like always, she loves the bath!  She is finally realizing how much she can do and how fun it is to splash!

Here she is sleeping.  I know what you're thinking... Really?  Why video a sleeping baby??

Well, I heard her making noises, so I went to pick her up, but this is what I found.

My sweet girl was dreaming :)
