13 Weeks--End of the First Trimester!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: Thirteen Weeks--I am officially starting my second trimester!  Woo hoo!
First, I want to apologize for not having a belly picture to post this week.  I am totally bummed about it.  I was out of town when I actually turned 13 weeks, and Bryan left town when I returned home.  I tried to snap a few selfies, but yuck!  I am no good at those.  This one will have to do for this week.

Size of baby: Baby M is almost 3 inches, or about the size of a peach.

Movement: I went to the doctor the other day, and when she pressed the Doppler onto my belly, I swear I felt something push back against her.  Every now and then, I think I might feel something, but definitely nothing consistent, yet.

Heartbeat: 167 bpm

 Fetal Development:
“Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords… savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby’s tummy. (Much more convenient.)” – thebump.com
“Fingerprints have formed on your baby’s tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you’re having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.” -babycenter.com

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I am holding steady at six pounds lost.

Maternity Clothes: I am wearing some maternity jeans and shorts and some regular (some with the BellaBand and some without).  Some of my regular tops are still fitting, but others have been packed away.  I am also wearing a lot of dresses.

Gender: We are not going to find out! I am so excited about this!  Although this is going to make for a long pregnancy, I get more excited about this every day.

Gut feeling:  I really feel in my heart that it is a boy.  I can't really explain it.  Funny though, when I dream, I dream about girls.  Same thing happened when we were expecting Gannon.

Sleep: I am actually still sleeping pretty well.  I think the only reason I wasn't before was because I was so nauseated all the time.

What I miss: Honestly, I miss drinking a beer on the porch in the afternoon. Especially with the weather being so nice!

Cravings: Pickles, pickles, and more pickles.  Claussen pickles!  I know, I know...how cliche', but they are absolutely fabulous!!  They are like a drink and a snack all in one :)

Aversions: Still nothing specific. I guess maybe I am in the clear?  I probably just jinxed myself!

Symptoms: I still can't eat breakfast, because I am too sick in the morning.  But it is pretty much limited to the mornings, now!  Yay!
I am also still pretty tired, but as long as I take a nap, I feel fine all day.

Twelve Week Mark!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: Twelve Weeks...End of the first trimester!

Size of baby: Baby M is around two and-a-half inches, or about the size of a plum.

Heart Rate:  I have been waiting for this moment for what seems like a while… I can finally hear the little heartbeat on my home Doppler!  Thursday, September 15, I tried out the Doppler, like I do every morning.  The difference today?  I heard a sound different from my own heartbeat!  It was the healthy, racing heartbeat of my tiniest peanut!  It was 174 bpm.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: That nasty stomach virus that tortured my poor family is finally out of my house for good!  I am actually feeling much better, too, and while I haven’t gained any weight, I haven’t lost anymore either.  I am holding steady at six pounds lost.

Maternity Clothes: My regular jeans no longer button!  My maternity jeans are still pretty big, so I have purchased a BellaBand.  This fits over my regular jeans so I can wear them without buttoning them.  Most of my tops are still working out okay.  I am also wearing lots of dresses.

Gender: We are not going to find out! I am so excited about this! Although this is going to make for a long pregnancy, I get more excited about this every day.

Gut feeling: I really feel in my heart that it is a boy.

With my first two pregnancies, I really enjoyed Google-ing “Old Wives Tales” for predicting gender.  Well, of course, this pregnancy is no different!  I know there is no science behind it, and it’s nothing to rely on, but it is still fun to guess J  I stumbled across one that is very interesting to me:
If the mother's age at conception and the year of conception are both even or both odd, the baby is a girl. If one is even and one is odd, the baby is a boy.

It is strange to me how people can figure out these formulas that can be so accurate for so many people!  It works out for both Gannon and Austyn, as well as so many others we have checked!

Movement:  I must have been crazy last week, because, although I swear I felt one more “thump”, there is nothing consistent enough to actually be fetal movement.  I guess I will have to wait a few more weeks.

Sleep: My energy (and appetite) seem to be slowly coming back to me! I am really feeling great!

I am not a huge fan of Italian right now, though.

Symptoms: I am still getting light-headed pretty often, and while it is much better, I still get nauseated from time to time.  Dang, I was kind of hoping the twelve-week mark would work like a “switch” haha ;)

Similarities and Differences from Previous Pregnancies:

Gannon: This little one has a high heart rate like Gannon did. I am also craving salty foods. With Gannon, I couldn't get enough steak. While I am not craving steak, specifically, the salty foods are what this one prefers as well.

*From the minute I found out I was pregnant, I knew he was a boy. I never wavered. However, throughout the pregnancy, I dreamed about baby girls.

When I was pregnant for Gannon, I could not eat anything Mexican, and I couldn't drink milk. I also couldn't eat supper.

Austyn: Not much is similar...Austyn's heart rate was lower, in the 140s. I ate a batch of chocolate chip cookies almost every day (by myself) during her pregnancy. I haven't touched a cookie so far with this one.

With both Gannon and Austyn, I craved oranges and orange juice. This time, not so much.

11 Weeks...and Growing

So, this week......

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: Eleven Weeks

Size of baby: Baby M is right at two inches, or about the size of a lime.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Well, I mentioned before that I was in an up-swing, but it didn't last.  A very nasty stomach virus ripped through our house (and our tummies) this week.  I had gained a pound back, but with the virus, I lost two.  So my total is at six pounds lost.
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my normal clothes but they are getting tight. I have a feeling I'm going to live in dresses, tunics and leggings this pregnancy!
**I know I have said this before, and this is the longest this stage has lasted for me.  Once clothes got tight with the first two, that was pretty much it...into maternity clothes I went!  But this time, my regular clothes are just staying tight.

Movement: Okay, I swear I feel something!!  Am I crazy?  It is soooo early, but I really think I have felt something not once, but twice!  It feels like someone tracing their finger on the inside of my tummy.  Who knows, maybe I feel this one early because it's number three.  Maybe, it is because I am losing weight this time (that has never happened to me before).  Or maybe, just maybe, I am crazy.  Just say it...I know you are thinking it ;)

Sleep: My energy (and appetite) seem to be slowly coming back to me!  I am really feeling great!

I am not a huge fan of Italian right now, though.

Symptoms: I am still getting light-headed pretty often.  Saturday, we went to Dallas for College Game Day (GEAUX TIGERS!), and more than once, when I stood to cheer, I had to sit almost just as fast.  On the bright side, I am finally able to eat two meals almost every day...some days I even get three!  Hallelujah!

Similarities and Differences from Previous Pregnancies:

Gannon: This little one has a high heart rate like Gannon did. I am also craving salty foods. With Gannon, I couldn't get enough steak. While I am not craving steak, specifically, the salty foods are what this one prefers as well.

Ten Weeks

Another week has passed :)

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: Ten Weeks

Size of baby: Baby M is just over an inch, which is about the size of a kumquat.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I lost another pound this week, which brings the total to five :(

Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my normal clothes but they are getting tight. I have a feeling I'm going to live in dresses, tunics and leggings this pregnancy!

Gender: We are not going to find out! I am so excited about this!

Movement: I haven't felt any movement yet, but hopefully, since this is number three, I will feel something before 22 weeks!

Sleep: I'm so, so, so tired. All the time. I love that I am working half days, because it allows me to have a nap everyday!

What I miss: Honestly, I miss drinking a beer on the porch in the afternoon.  Especially with the weather being so nice!

Cravings: This week, Roman Delight Pizza is high on my priority list.  Weird, I know, but it's what I want :)
